The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is working to improve the health and economic security of 40 million older adults by 2030, especially those who are struggling. We are the national voice for every person’s right to age well; and believe everyone deserves to age with the best possible health and economic security, regardless of socioeconomic status, ethnicity, or background. We empower individuals with trusted, proven solutions to improve their daily lives, and protect and strengthen federal programs that people depend on as they age.
The digital economic security team manages a product portfolio that includes BenefitsCheckUp® and My Medicare Matters®, as well as a new financial planning product launching in September. The team relies on matrixed collaboration and contribution to maintain the products, define and execute product roadmaps, and bring in revenue. In that capacity, the Senior Product Manager will work with our team and across NCOA for subject matter expertise, content contribution, UX design, and communications support. In addition, the Senior Product Manager will serve as business owner for product development, while loosely following an Agile methodology in partnership with a vendor for developer and architect roles.
BenefitsCheckUp and My Medicare Matters
Since its launch in 2001, nearly 9 million people have used BenefitsCheckUp to find more than $35 billion in annual benefits. Designed for use by older adults, persons with disabilities, caregivers, and professionals working in a wide variety of community and state organizations, BenefitsCheckUp maintains information on ~2,500 benefits programs at the federal, state, and local level, as well as information on local assistance organizations. Roadmap planning and solutioning is underway now to leverage recent technological advances and user experience insights to dramatically increase the reach, impact, and cost-effectiveness of BenefitsCheckUp. Continuing this planning and sequencing into a development cycle will be a significant portion of the Senior Product Manager’s role. The Senior Product Manager will also have day-to-day business ownership of BenefitsCheckUp.
People who are eligible for Medicare must make important choices about the coverage that will best meet their health and financial needs. Choosing the wrong plan can negatively impact their health and financial situation. My Medicare Matters is designed to make it easier for people with Medicare (and those planning for Medicare) to make informed and confident choices about their health coverage and to make the most of that coverage. My Medicare Matters was recently rebuilt on a new AWS framework with a modern user interface and features personalized cost estimates as well as access to trusted Medicare agency partners for plan recommendation and enrollment. The Senior Product Manager will help inform roadmap planning and support tool refinements and enhancements based on usage analysis and feedback from internal stakeholders, users, and strategic partners.
