Help Your Clients After Open Enrollment Ends

The window for Medicare’s Open Enrollment Period closed on December 7th. Now you/your clients may be wondering what options are available for people who have issues with their health and drug plan coverage in 2020.

Use the links below to find resources that explain these options:

  • The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs January 1-March 31. Anyone who is enrolled in an MA plan as of January 1, 2020 can use this period to change plans or switch back to Original Medicare with a Part D plan.

Note: Several counselors have expressed concerns about whether there will be an SEP for individuals who may have based their 2020 plan enrollment decisions on information in the redesigned Plan Finder that was inaccurate at the time of enrollment. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has not announced any recourse for this scenario yet, though beneficiaries who may be able to provide evidence of erroneous enrollment may be able to use the existing SEP for this purpose on a case-by-case basis.
